Dawna Uchtmann, a California native, has been sketching and drawing since she was a youngster. She
graduated from Humboldt State University in 1994 with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art with an
emphasis in Photography. She paints out of her home studio in Greer, South Carolina. Her preferred
medium involves the use of acrylic on canvas. In addition to painting, Dawna has worked as a
professional photographer. She has competed at various state and regional art competitions.
Her still life paintings are presented with elements of color, line and dots that converge to create a
unique contrast and a striking cohesiveness to the image. These images have often times been associated
with poster art revealing vivid and highly saturated colors and the graphic nature of design. Dawna’s
paintings have elements of the divisionist techniques which were rooted in the paintings of the neo
impressionist works by Georges Seurat. Various artists within Siskiyou and Humboldt County,
California consider her work to be analogous to the images of Andy Warhol.
